Icelandic photographer Telma Har presents her Völva series for Surroundings / ENVIRONMENT.
Völva is a woman at ease in solitude, whose name is directly translated from the Nordic "prophetess": this almost mythological subject is linked to the personal experience of the artist, who as a child used to spend her summers in Þorskafjörður, in complete connection with the surrounding environment, witnessing the smallest miracles of nature.

Art exhibition reflecting on the relationship between the cultural background of the artist and its everyday surroundings, a task even more challenging if the artist has residence in a different country than its own.
How much of the heritage is retained in the artistic practice? Is there a loss of it after many years living abroad?
Five artists of different nationalities based in Iceland explore their unique point of view in this group exhibition due to open on Saturday 11th of November in San Miniato (Pisa).
