Stories

Núllið Gallerí

November 17-19

2023

"Stories" is an exhibition by the artists Íris Hadda and Telma Har. It features photographic works created between 2022 and 2023. As the title suggests, stories are the subject of the exhibition. Telma and Íris share a common interest in scrutinizing self-images in their artwork. In this exhibition, they both explore how stories are told about women and the potential consequences stories can have on women's self-image.

Íris Hadda is an artist born in Iceland, but she has spent most of her life in Spain. Trained as an art historian and an expert in creative writing, she has been residing in Iceland since 2020. Currently, she is studying photography at Ljósmyndaskólinn while also working at the Reykjavík Art Museum. Her primary interests include self-image, fiction, "archives," and the poetic symbolism of images.

Telma Har is an artist based in Iceland. Over the past few years, she has been exploring photography as an art form. Currently enrolled at The School of Photography in Reykjavik, she frequently uses herself as a mannequin and creates characters as a means to reconstruct thought processes. Her works serve as a platform to interpret her perception of herself and the world she exists in. Each photograph simultaneously extends into the past, reflecting the elements that shape her and what she has learned, while offering a glimpse into the future she is moving towards.
