Self Portraits

Listasmiðja Slippbarsins

october 26-november 12

The exhibition Self portraits will display a selection of my self portraits I made this year. I frequently use myself as a mannequin and create characters as a way to recreate thought processes. My works are my platform to interpret the notion I have of myself and the world I exist in. Each photograph is at the same time an extension of the past, the things that shape me and what I have learned, as well as glimpse into the future I go towards. For the last few years, I have been exploring photography as an art form. I am currently studying at The Shcool of Photography in Reykjavik. The main artistic influence on my works derives from Cindy Sherman, Tim Walker, Anja Niemi, Yasumasa Morimura and Uldus Bakthiozina. This is my second solo exhibition. I have also participated in three group exhibitions this year, one in London, Milan and Arizona and am preparing for two group exhibitions in November, one in Núllið Gallerí and the other with Magma Art Space in Italy.
