Arcanae Figurae
Palazzo dei Priori, Volterra
October
2024
Magma Art Space is delighted to welcome you to Arcanæ Figuræ: Feminine self portraits from the Nordic folktales, a visual art exhibition by Icelandic artist Telma Har, which will take place in the wonderful setting of Palazzo dei Priori in the city of Volterra (Tuscany, Italy) next October 2024.
The series of works shown in the exhibition is the artist's interpretation of some of the most famous legends, which she illustrates through the use of photographic self portrait and handmade costumes. Telma examines tales of hidden women, mythical creatures and other female characters of the nordic heritage, herself enacting the protagonists in the Icelandic nature.
Telma Har is an emerging artist who works predominantly with photography: her signature process involves the manual creation of all costumes, props and of parts of the set used as a backdrop, when she does not shoot directly in nature. The main theme in Telma’s practice is the research into her heritage, both personal and cultural.
We will be delighted to see you in the exhibition space called Saletta del Giudice Conciliatore on Friday 11th October from 5 pm for the official opening. After the greetings by Volterra Council's representatives, the curator of the exhibition Clizia Macchi will host a brief interview with the artist.
(The exhibition space is located inside Palazzo dei Priori).
